12:00noon - 3:00pm KPPA Digital Image Review - Get a jump start on next years print competition by submitting images for the print review. You may submit up to 4 images.
3:30pm - 4:30pm Capturing The Night Sky - Cory Loomis
4:30pm - 6:00pm Sports Photography on Location at the High School
6:00pm - 7:00pm Dinner at Cathy Colborn's Home! 1 Block Away
7:00pm - 7:30pm Travel to the Gyp Hills!
7:30pm - 9:00pm Photograph the beautiful landscape of the Gypsum Hills!
9:00pm - 10:00pm Break and Travel to Astrophotography Location
10:00pm - 2:00am Astrophotography
Astrophotography can be captured with basic equipment using proper technique. Photographing the night sky can be done by anyone with just a few pieces of gear; a dslr body, a wide angle lens, and a tripod. We will be teaching you how to capture the night sky with equipment that most photographers already own. This will be a hands-on class for everyone, so make sure to bring your gear!
Timing is perfect to view the Perseids meteor shower in Kansas! The Perseids meteor shower happens each summer, following the flight of the comet Swift-Tuttle. It's one of the brighter meteor showers of the year and is currently underway and overhead. In Kansas City, the peak of the phenomenon occurs August 12-13.

About Cory Loomis

Cory owns a small-town business located in Bloomfield, Nebraska. He was brought up with strong work ethics and workmanship. Following ten years of active duty in the US Navy submarine community, he attended the University of Guam where he graduated with a degree in Computer Science along with a minor in Arts with a focus on photography. After relocating back to his hometown, he launched his photography business in 2015. Upon joining the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and Professional Photographers of Nebraska (PPofN), he has continued to invest in his education to provide professional services and products to his customers.
