One of the major factors in being a successful photographer is knowledge of lighting. Whether using studio strobes, off camera flash, or natural light, knowing how to use and manipulate light can make or break your photographic images.

This class will explore various forms of lighting techniques. We will begin with the basics in proper studio lighting (split lighting, Rembrandt lighting, loop lighting, etc.). A firm grasp of the basics will allow us, then, to explore a variety of lighting sources from the basic to the complex; studio to environmental; big strobes to small strobes; continuous light to natural light to using reflectors.

In conjunction we will delve into posing, with a demonstration of masculine and feminine poses as well as discuss and angles that are most and least flattering on a variety of people.

This will be very hands on class and the knowledge of how to use these lighting tools will only uncover your potential for huge growth as a portrait photographer. Bringing your camera is a must, as will be constantly shooting something! If you are new to photography or want to learn new/different lighting techniques to give your photography a fresher look, then this class is for you.
